I think the root cause of the different responses to sex between men and women lies in slurs and femininity. In the most extreme of scenarios, they look at me like I’m less of a woman or like I’m a disgrace to my femininity. They try their hardest to turn the conversation in any other possible direction. They tell me to quiet my voice in fear of being caught with the word. People look at me like I’m shameful or disgusting or an embarrassment to my parents. Whenever I so much as mention the existence of sex, the room gets quiet. I’ve seen this awkwardness with adults, but it grows stronger with teenagers. But when I played in this in the car one time, my dad and sister were repulsed by it.
I personally think it has a cool beat and the layering of the vocals is pretty dope. Here's another indie jam to kick back and listen to. What can I say? Raspy vocals always get me. I heard this in Shameless one time and immediately downloaded it. It's so good it'll make you want to dance with a vampire in a gazebo under twinkling lights.
This was also in Twilight (it was a fire soundtrack, okay?). "Flightless Bird, American Mouth"- Iron & Wine It's a little more alternative and poppy, but it's still fantastic. This is one of her older songs, but it takes me back to those emo days I previously mentioned. Marina is my favorite artist of all time: she's freaking gorgeous, her vocals are so impressive she could be an opera singer, and her songs hit me in the feels, hard.
